MAAA and M3 team up to host the Business of Music workshop in Madison…
Indiana’s Music City!
Madison Area Arts Alliance and Madison Music Movement will team up to join the Indiana Arts Commission and the Indiana Small Business Development Center for an entrepreneurship training session at the Red Bicycle Hall on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 from noon to 6:00pm.
“The Business of Music” is a free half-day workshop that gives musicians, venue owners, and music enthusiasts the opportunity to learn effective strategies for marketing music and venues, writing songs, expanding acts regionally, and selling your own talents.
Invited panelists include: Grammy award winner Robert Reynolds; recording artist and homegrown rock and roller Rusty Bladen; Indiana Jazz Hall of Famer Bill Lancton; Nashville recording songwriter/musician Jimmy Davis, Snaps for Sinners dynamic duo, Jay Drapes, and Michael Fierro.
We welcome out-of-town featured speakers including grassroots music marketing consultant Isabelle Garson from Santa Rosa, CA; Dr. Michael Fortunato, a musician, professor, and community development consultant: and Aubrey Preston, a music expert and developer from Leipers Fork, Tennessee. These special guests, alongside a team of seasoned music maker panelists, will share hands-on experience about the music business.
Come hear this collection of talent while also learning about resources from the state and local agencies available to musicians and venues building their own music business. Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to network with experts, venue professionals, and musicians to find new opportunities and make our music ecosystem even stronger. At the end of the day, attendees will enjoy a huge M3 music party Madison-style with a musical showcase at the Ohio Theatre, featuring musicians from across the area, followed by a jam session.
“Indiana’s creative entrepreneurs play a vital role in making our state a place where people want to live, work, play, study and stay,” said IAC Executive Director Miah Michaelsen. “We are grateful for the partnership of the Indiana Small Business Development Center in supporting arts-based small businesses.”
Although registration is free, seating is limited and available on a first come basis. This includes the workshop, snacks throughout the day, dinner, and a ticket to the Madison Music Showcase at the historic Ohio Theatre. Join us for a day of exchange, learning, and sharing talents in Madison, Indiana’s Music City!
